Green Light for Grantham Designer Outlet Village

Giles Membrey, Managing Director of Rioja Developments said:

“We’re delighted with the Development Management Committee’s decision to grant planning permission to our proposals for Grantham Designer Outlet Village.

“We’re convinced that this £100 million development really is a game-changer for Grantham. It has the potential to bring thousands of new shoppers into the town centre every year, and around 3.5 million to the Designer Outlet Village itself, and this will create thousands of new jobs for local people, and really put Grantham on the map.”

Stephen Vickers, Managing Director of landowners Buckminster, said:

“We will now work with the Council to agree the fine detail of the legal aspects of the planning permission  and provided the Secretary of State has no problems with it, we are looking forward to starting work on site as soon as possible, hopefully in the spring. Grantham Designer Outlet Village artist impression 1

Construction is set to begin in 2018-19 for a 270,000 sq. ft. Designer Outlet Village, consisting of 130 shops, restaurants and a hotel close to the A1, on the southern edge of Grantham.  The Designer Outlet Village will be accessed by a new junction on the A1, which will also connect to the new Southern Relief Road.  It is expected that the development will create 1,500 jobs. The site will also include 1,800 car parking spaces and is predicted to attract up to 3.5 million visitors per year.
